the year of the [rockin'] ox

Ox [me]

The ox may be quiet, but this natural leader is not easily swayed, and may even be ruthless when it comes to getting his or her way. The upcoming year will be stressful, with relationship problems emerging. People with ox spouses should understand that the ox will be particularly hot-headed this year. *watch out hun*

Famous Ox: Barack Obama

Rabbit [hubby]

Rabbits are tactful, diplomatic, optimistic and eager to please. Money will flow in and out easily this year *gasp*. Hard work and determination will be needed to combat work and financial setbacks. The rabbit's love life, however, will be peppered with good humor.
Tiger [gabe]

The tiger is impulsive, thrill-seeking and passionate. He or she is also energetic, gutsy and exudes confidence. The year of the ox will be a mixed year. The tiger should be on alert for litigation and gossip. He or she will spend this year hard at work in preparation now and will be reaping the benefits the next lunar year.

day before yesterday...

went to salon with colin, she had color and curl, while i opted to have 'bangs'... new year, new look, hehehe!

afterwards, gabe and i braved the traffic and the throngs of travelling 'chekwa' and meet up with hubby in king glory plaza, proceeded further to crowded louhu to buy gabe's skateboard...

then back to king glory to have dinner...

arrived home at half past 8... stayed up to watch ghost whisperer and desperate housewives...

yesterday

hubby was home, it's the beginning of their almost 3-wk [paid] vacation for CNY... we spent the whole day sleeping, eating, lounging around, surfing the net and watching a marathon of dvd's... a good day!

...and gabe played outside the whole day, i wonder where does he get all the energy...

and did some artworks in photoshop while he took a break! LOL!

Are you GUILTY, like i am?

I just wanna share this... This is sooo funny and oh soo true... We always complain about how FAT we are and how we despise gaining weight but still do the things which makes us that, eat all the unhealthy food...

(source: my inbox)

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled.
And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 6 to size 14.
So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.
God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them?" And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof.
God then created a light fluffy white cake and named it "Angel Food Cake" And said, "It is good." Satan then created chocolate cake and named it "Devil's Food."
God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.
Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy Center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.
God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and its 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then Satan said, "You want fries with that?" And Man replied, "Yes,! And super size them!" And Satan said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest.
God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery. Then Satan created HMOs.
Thought for the day. There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

So true huh? So, are you guilty?

*still on semi-hibernation mode* [what can i do, it's 9degrees outside!]

12 days into the new year and i'm still PROCRASTINATING! i hate it when that happens! i should've posted my goals for this year earlier... but then, it's better late than never!

this year i want to/love to/wish to/promise to:

- practice more on photoshop [since i already learned the basics last year]

- stay more organized and motivated @ home [translation: STOP procrastinating!]

- stay fit, eat right, work-out more [it's embarassing how little exercise i currently get]

- stop worrying too much [it's like i worry too much or doesn't worry at all, talk about extremes there!]

- try to scrap more [or take less pictures, lol!]

- get things done [translation: NO more procrastination!]

- spend less, save more [yeah right, easier said than done!]

- travel when we can [wishy wishy wish!]

- laugh at every opportunity

- spend less time online *fingers crossed*

- learn how to bake [seriously! i would love to be able to make homemade cookies, cakes and pastries, isn't it a mom's job to make homemade cookies?]

- start my own business, an online shop perhaps [is that a smile im seeing, hun? finally huh? hehe!]

- learn how to sew and make patterns [it's never too late right?]

- lighten up a bit

- stop being 'idle' [translation: STOP procrastinating!]

- learn video-making [windows movie-maker, that shouldn't be hard!]

- practice generosity [with the time and money i could spare]

- learn web-development [gotta get IT-cized*made that word up*]

- not be afraid to try new things

- spend more time with our LORD

- at least control my impulse-buying if not totally eradicate it [can't believe we've accumulated so much stuff!]

- improve my mandarin

- learn the virtue of patience [especially with my ten-year old]

- organize our gazillion of photos and be able to put it all in albums

*this list shall continue as i try to think of more ways to improve our life*

WISH ME LUCK!

* disclaimer: though these are my goals for the year, they are just goals... i'm not going to beat myself up if i cannot keep up with it...

thanks 2008!

another year had passed, and this is the perfect time to reflect on the year that was... i must say 2008 had been a pretty great year for my family, there sure were lots of ups and downs, hits and misses, and having survived them all made me wiser, stronger, happier...

... and for making me appreciate the loves of my life today and everyday, thank you Lord!

i must have done something good to be blessed like this!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
